Mother. Wife. Daughter. Sister. Friend. Student of Life.
A person who loves others, Donna has served as a spiritual care leader, pastor, ordained elder, board certified chaplain, trained spiritual director, hospice/palliative care subject-matter-expert, C-suite partner, organizational spiritual care consultant, motivational speaker, retreat director, and educator.
Donna’s calling is to create opportunities for others to experience the Divine, who is already at work. An ordained elder in the Church of the Nazarene since 2006, Donna has served in local, district, and global leadership through missions, discipleship, youth, education and chaplaincy. She has pastored in lead and associate roles in Tennessee, Kansas, Texas, and Florida.
A board-certified chaplain with Association of Professional Chaplains, Donna continues to lead evidence-based, professional spiritual care at all stages of life. An ecclesiastically-endorsed interfaith chaplain for healthcare, workplace, and Veteran Affairs, Donna has served hospice and palliative care patients and families from the bedside to the boardroom. In addition to serving as a hospice chaplain, Donna led a team of 40+ chaplains, social workers, bereavement counselors, and interns to serve a 600+ advanced illness census in 18 rural to urban counties; strategized to meet clinical competency outcomes; re-developed bereavement to serve 10,000 grievers annually; created community crisis response teams; reshaped charity care.
She also created and implemented a whole-person, virtual spiritual care program for palliative care patients and caregivers for a start-up telehealth organization supporting underserved populations in California, Oregon, and Washington. This soon expanded to whole-person professional care for colleagues and leaders as well, specializing in sacred dignity (identifying and honoring what is most important to another person), cultural humility, multicultural diversity, and multidisciplinary teamwork.
As a student, Donna has nearly completed a doctorate of ministry (DMin) in spiritual formation and spiritual direction from Fuller Theological Seminary. Her master of divinity (MDiv) was earned from Nazarene Theological Seminary, bachelors (BA) degree from Trevecca Nazarene University, and early admissions at University of North Florida. She completed dignity therapy certification with Dr. Harvey Max Chochinov and engaged in multiple graduate courses around healthcare leadership and innovation.
While loving to learn from all life offers, Donna’s greatest joy and passion is her family. To walk alongside another in life is the greatest humility and testimony to what is most sacred. Sacred Humility LLC was created from this desire to offer spiritual care to all, in whatever season they find themselves. Sacred Humility LLC supports all people, of any or no spirituality, with the agenda of whatever the person seeking support expresses.
