Spiritual Direction
Spiritual direction is a practice of guiding and accompanying individuals in their spiritual journey, helping them deepen their relationship with the Divine (or their higher power) and discern God's presence and action in their lives.
A spiritual director (or guide) offers support, encouragement, and insight to help individuals explore and grow in their spirituality.
Key tools of spiritual direction listening and reflecting, discernment, exploration of spiritual practices, deepening awareness of the Divine, support for spiritual challenges, and confidential space without judgement.
Those seeking spiritual direction include people seeking deeper connection, those in transition, spiritual seekers, people in ministry roles, anyone in crisis of faith, and those curious about spiritual journeys.
Confidentiality:
Our conversations are always confidential; however, for my professional growth I ask permission to share pieces of information with my supervisor without using your name. It is customary for directors to be under direction and supervision as part of our commitment to improving our ministries.
Time Commitment:
Sessions will last one hour and will meet according to the schedule we agree upon, usually monthly, and will evaluate as often as needed whether the relationship is fruitful and should be continued or not. Unless otherwise agreed to, I will always protect one hour from the session’s scheduled start time; you may choose to use the whole hour or not.
Fee:
If you need to reschedule, please let me know at least one day in advance if possible. At this time, I am unable to accept payment through insurance, provide out of network benefits, or take HSA payments. Fees are out of pocket only. Many clients choose to see a spiritual director, a spiritual care counselor, and a licensed therapist at the same time to complement whole-person health.
For your convenience all consultations are available on a sliding-scale fee of $50-$100 per consultation, at your discretion. More specialized needs may be discussed within an appointment.
All payments are currently received through Zelle: donna@sacredhumility.com.
State Law:
State law requires spiritual directors to report suspected cases of child or elder abuse, danger to oneself or danger to others.
